I have a desktop that came with XP, is there a way to transfer a copy or make
a copy for my laptop?

No, unless you purchased extra licences. XP works on only one machine
(beyond the activation deadline).

You purchase a second copy for your laptop.

In some cases, you can REMOVE the operating system from one PC and
legitimately transfer it to a different PC. However, if you need XP on both
machines simultaneously, the answer is NO.

1 License = 1 PC

Legally, no. Practically, it depends on if you have a WinXP CD, when
it was installed on the first PC, etc.

Good luck, jimbo
