Copy won't quit - teminate task?

I'm copying some files onto a CD with Roxio Direct CD.
The copy won't quit. If I close the Windows Explorer
dialog box, and try to eject the CD, it complains
that "Windows is currently working with a file" and I need
to wait or end the process. When I bring up task manager,
what task do I terminate?

How long are you waiting? I've found that this often takes quite a while
with XP (it took almost 5 minutes today to copy a 4.4MB file to a formatted
CDRW disk). Also, if you're using a new disk, it may have to format it
before copying. Next time, try taking a coffee break while it does its thing
before trying the 3 fingered salute. I find WinXP generally lacking in CD
file copying. Win98 was much simpler and faster.

.
The CD is formatted correctly. I can read files from it.
I gave the process overnight to finish. I want to be able
to shut down my PC, but I cannot until I terminate this
task!

1. Scan the files you want to copy with your antivirus first. Then, turn of
the antivirus auto protect before copying! See how it speeds the process up!

2. There are some files/songs that, due to whatever, defy copying to a CD. I
have run into 3-4 of these on both my computers and my clients computers. I
would guess that the file is damaged in some way and halts the process. It's
trial and error to find out which file it may be.

Have you tried using EZCD instead of Direct CD? I've had similar problems
using Direct CD, but in my case, the disk was unreadable after the copy
process finished. Are you trying to copy game or music files which might
possibly have embedded copy protection? Which version of Roxio are you
using?
