Copy subtotals

I would like to work with my collapsed subtotals without
the associated detailed rows. When I try to copy a set of
collapsed subtotals (that is, a set in which I have
clicked the #2 in the far left corner), and try to copy
that information, it pastes the subtotals plus all of the
hidden rows.

Can anyone tell me how I can work with only the subtotals
of a spreadsheet?

Select the row, copy it, then select the destination cells and 'paste
values' (either by clicking the dropdown arrow to the right of the paste
button, or mousing to 'edit' 'paste special'
