I'm not sure where to post this.

I have a 10Gig HD and want to replace it with a larger
one. Is it possible to copy the data from my 10 Gig hard
drive onto a new one and then remove the old HD?

Go to the Maxtor.com website and download use the
Maxblast software. Plug in the new drive as the slave to
your old one and it will move everything automatically.
It works great even for non Maxtor drives. The make the
new drive the master and you are set!

Yes - with good image copying software which will copy the entire
partition exactly. Do not try file by file copying. I use BootIT NG,
from http://www.BootitNG.com ($35 shareware - 30 day full functional
trial) and then use it also to adjust the size of the resulting
partition. And I would keep the old drive around - for one thing as a
place for backing up files, or the entire system partition (using the
same program) and second so that its identity will still be found by the
Product Activation system

.
Purchase for $29.95 at Staples, Copy Commander. Very
simple.

Most retail drives come with setup software that will do just that. Might
not be the slickest products, but you paid for it.
