Copy files usb to hd at boot

Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to xpe, but I have the build just the way I want it for now.
I haven't come across an easy way to deploy it though?

The target system is a little embedded pc.
It's got a 40gb hd
1usb port
1ethernet port

Xpe needs to be installed on the harddrive, and I was hoping for an automated process. I was hoping to use a usbpen as the bootdevice, having all the files on that and then copying them over at boot, and probably use a batch file or somin for the partitioning and formating of the drive before hand. After that I'll remove the script and the files from the build should take care of the rest.

But how to accomplish this?
I've tried copying the files over using a Bart Bootdisk I had floating around, but the filenames can't exceed 8 characters.

Any suggestions would be a great help
