Copy and Pasting Master Slides in PowerPoint 2007

I have a presentation with an existing set of master slides, and I want to
add another set of master slides. When I copy the desired masters from
another deck and pasted them into the sorter view in the slide master view,
elements of the desired masters are changing. For example, fonts become red
in the footer or the size of a font in one of the background graphics blows
up from 14 points to 24 points.

Does anyone know why this happens and/or how to fix it?

For that, I don't use copy-paste. I search the new master with the Themes
(Searching Themes) and apply it to one slide (not to all)

I tried reapplying the theme, but it didn't work - the fonts were still
messed up.

Footer fonts especially do strange things like "blow up." The color change
might be related to the color scheme that's been applied to the slide
master, though.

Probably the easiest way to fix it is to just reformat the footer
placeholders on that master. You can use Format Painter for this -- it works
even between presentations.
