copy and paste from one PPT to another

I am curious if there is a way to copy and paste slides from one PPT file to another and to keep the formatting (background, colors, etc.) from the original PPT without applying the master formatting from the new PPT file.

It seems to always apply the new slide master when pasting copied slides. (using PowerPoint 2002)

Go to Tools > Options > Edit and under Cut and Paste check the box next to "Show Paste Options buttons". Now when you paste anything, an icon will show below the object. Click on it and you can choose between: 1) keep source formatting, 2) Use Design Template formatting, and 3) keep text only. You want #1.
