I did a clean installation after the coolwwwsearch nasty infected my registry. I used CWShredder the first time , but didn't like some of the side effects (that's why the new install). After finally getting up and running the friggin' bug showed up AGAIN. I hadn't disabled Messenger yet , but Windows update was the only site I visited! I have since disabled Messenger but am hoping for a better solution than CWShredder. If you people aren't sick of me yet , I need help!

Hi Alaric,

Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save
Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix
anything yet.
Then go to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/

Just sign in, or post as a guest, and go to the Spyware and Hijackware
Removal Support section. Press "new topic", explain your problem,
and copy and paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new
message.

Good luck

Alaric;
Yes, I saw you at the site recommended. Good to know you have this thing
almost whipped.
In the same vein , you might try the Google Toolbar as a popup stopper. I'm
using it now and find that it does the trick. You can even move it up so it
is part of your normal toolbar and doesn't take up space unnecessarily.
