Cookies and Hotmail

I was having cookies problems as well as some other problems so I reformatted
and reinstalled Windows XP.
Despite this, I still cannot access my Hotmail account because of cookies
being unabled. This is not true. I have Allowed All Cookies under Internet
Options Privacy but to no avail. I can access my Hotmail account from another
PC so I'm wondering if it is my ADSL router or Firewall. It is an Edimax
Wireless 11g ADSL Router.
Any ideas?

Try disabling your firewall(s) and test again. Could be your firewall
is blocking Referrer and Hotmail wants that to make sure that the pages
you navigate through during the login (which starts at passport.net and
goes through a couple web pages before getting to hotmail.msn.com) are
*their* pages.

Hi geniusoflvb :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Cannot access Hotmail or Yahoo

Trouble logging into Hotmail

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_10.htm#hotmail

and...

Tools>Internet Options>Security>Advanced>Custom Level> change each of the
ActiveX Controls setting respectively down the list to the following:

Change the following in order:
Prompt
Disable
Disable
Prompt
Prompt

also......

Remove MSN Messenger v6.2

and.....

#1.-- You need to be logged on as an Administrator if running Windows XP
(have Full Rights) otherwise you will be limited to "Chat" and will not be
able to Modify/Delete/Change Files or transfer/send or receive files,
E-mails etc.

#2.-- Go To START >RUN> type in the Input window: ReGsvr32.exe softPUB.DLL "

#3.-- Change the Internet Explorer Settings: Tools>Internet
Options>Security>Setting> and set to Medium or Low...

#4.-- Uninstall MSN Messenger... Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>
find MS Messenger and uninstall it.

#5.-Repair Internet Explorer. Then reinstall MSN messenger... NOT the beta
v6.

#6.-- If you are using a proxy, make sure the settings are correct. If you
use LAN, then check to be sure the "Proxy server" box is Unchecked.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps
