converting old password protected documents

I have an old journal from an older version of Word (possibly word 97 or
earlier) I saved it with a password. I've updated my computer since then
and now I can't open this journal. Any way I can do that?

You will need to purchase a password 'cracker'. This will cost approx. $60
and will 'crack' other common software. However, if you email me the document
to <[email protected]> i'll 'crack' it for you.

I was actually hoping to be directed to a site where I could get older
versions of Word; I don't want to resort to buying "cracker" software, and -
thanks for the offer - but I REALLY don't want to send this journal of
private information to a stranger for decoding.

You should have no problem opening a Word 97 (or older file) in Word 2003
provided you know the password.
