Convert Word documents to jpeg?

G

Guest

I got a dvd player for my birthday and was able to save my grandchildren's
photos to discs (my grandchildren are so proud!) With that success under my
belt I thought it would be a great idea to put all of my favorite recipes on
discs and and just pop them in the dvd player whenever they were
needed......I didn't think far enough ahead, however, because although my dvd
player did fine playing the jpegs it will not play my saved Word documents
which I created using XP Home Edition. Is there any way to save a Word
document to a jpeg format? Thanks in advance for your help.

You cannot convert word documents into *.jpegs.

You could use a screen capture utility and take pictures of your recipes on
screen in Word.

Save the output pictures as jpegs and burn those to disc.

A good screen capture application can be found here.

Also check out the other FastStone applications available for free download.

The image viewer is great, if a bit slow to load.

You could try...copy / paste...into MS Paint
or IrfanView...then go to...File / Save As...JPEG.

Thanks! It worked like a charm! Not really sophisticated but it works quite well for saving recipes for my own use. You were a big help. Ro

Thanks for responding to my question. You gave me some good things to think
about but John's idea is the easiest. I will look up the FastStone
applications so I can learn more about all this. Thanks again, Ro

You're welcome.

Thanks for the update.

At some point...you still might
want to explore screenshots as
Gord suggested.

Here's a freebie that I use:

I have found it to be quite useful for
acquiring quick screen shots.

I have it set so all I have to do is:

1) Press...my Print Screen key...
2) Drag a box around the content I wish to save...
3) Press enter...
The screen shot is immediately saved as a .jpg
in a folder of my choice.

An alternative that is also quite easy is to just press Print Screen,
then open your favorite image editor (even Paint), then use the crop
tool to select what you want to keep, crop it, and save it in the
file format you like.

If you use this approach for printed recipes, you will want to choose
a larger font with thick lines that show up well displayed at TV
resolution.

Oops--I forgot to say that after you open the editor, you will need
to Edit->Paste to get the picture into the editor. ;-)

Thanks for the feedback.

Your grandchildren are fortunate to have you as a grand-mum.

I know you will pass on that perserverance and willingness to learn, not to
mention the courtesy of coming back and letting us know how you got on.

Gord.
