Best way to Burn JPEGS

What is the best material to burn jpegs to, CD or DVD?

I find that with numerous DVD players and the different software they all
have I get different problems when I have copied JPEGS to a DVD. So is it
best to stick to CD even though there's less space?

Also as far as burning to CD is the XP feature Copy to CD good enough. My
software (Nero) will not allow me to add to a session (OEM) version, but XP
Copy CD does (on the same disc). So does this XP feature have any drawbacks
over using other 3rd party burning software.

When I am copying files and XP is storing them in the temp area why does my
desktop show some pics as This Year, Last Year etc? Doesn't make sense to
me as they were taken at the same time.

TIA

I prefer CD if you are going to play them in a DVD player to display on your
TV. Less problems with scratches, you can place a label on them and you
don't have to worry about DVD-R or DVD+R formats.
To backup my pictures, I copy them to a CD and then to an external drive . I
fully trust the "backup" procedure of XP but I don't trust the "restore"
procedure so I never use such to backup pictures. If my computer fails, I
can attach the external drive to another computer and simply open the
pictures. External drives have been dropping in price and I think this is
safer than using DVD when you need a lot of space.

I always use the XP "Copy to CD" to copy photos to CD. Easy to use. A copy
is a copy, regardless of the software used. If you want to share the CD with
others not on XP (other versions of Windows) you can make this CD compatible
with such by going to this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
and download the file Slideshow.exe into a folder. Open the folder, double
click on the file to install it. Next time you use the XP "Copy to CD"
wizard you will be automatically asked if you want to add this feature. You
just answer Yes and three files will be added to the CD to make it
compatible with previous Windows versions.

I don't have Nero. I have Roxio. The only time I use it other than to copy
music or copy to DVD, it to copy to CD-RW. With the Drag and Drop feature, a
CD-RW can be used just like a floppy disk. I suspect you probably have the
same feature with Nero.
A problem is if I use Roxio, it takes over XP. So if I want to use XP again
to copy, I need to right click on the CD drive, Properties, Recording tab
and Enable box to use XP again. I don't know if Nero creates this problem.

I can't answer your question about "Year". I have never seen this.

Many thanks Yves for as usual your expert answer. I am attempting to help a
friend who is a newbee to copy his pics. I felt probably the XP copy to CD
way would be the simplest for him rather than him having to use, and in his
case actually find on his computer 3rd party software to do this.

Hello,

I'm sure I used Photo2DVD Studio in the past and was impressed with its
features. It lets you create you own dvd menu with music and directly
burn your image slideshows into DVD.
