Convert TOC into normal text

I have several files, each with a TOC. I need a "copy" of the text of these
TOC's in a new document, less the pages numbers, tab leaders etc. IS there a
way to convert these hyplerlink TOC entries into normal text? The newly
created document becomes a simple list of the TOC entries, the basis for a
check off list of features.

You can copy the TOC into a new document, then Ctrl+Shift+F9 to unlink it,
but you'll have to remove the leaders and page numbers manually. It might be
preferable to create a TOC without page numbers in the document itself (or a
copy of it), then copy/paste that in a new document and unlink it.

Thanks to both of you for such a simple and prompt response. Wil save me TONS

Copy TOC, then paste special unformatted text. Select TOC then convert
text to table (tab delimeted). Delete last column (page numbers) then
covert table to text.

Thanks for that suggestion. I had attempted the table option, without
success. I failed to note in my original post that I am using Wordâ„¢2000. I
looked for a paste special option, but could not find one. Is that a new
feature of XP, 2003, or the new 2007 release of Wordâ„¢? Or does it also exist
in some hidden recess of my Wordâ„¢2000 release as well?

Paste Special has been on the Edit menu in Word for as long as I've been
using it, I'm sure (since v. 2.0).

So right, my error. Should have looked there instead of just the right click
menu
