Convert nvc files

Dan

Is there any freeware program to convert nvc files created by Nero Vision
Express 2? I have a slideshow that I would like to burn to dvd. Nero tells
me that I have to purchase the mpeg2 codec from them to do this. This is all
new to me, and the more I read about codecs, vob files, avi files divix files,
the more confused I get. I have this slideshow completed that I used Vision
Express2 to compile,I just want to burn it to a dvd that will play on my
home dvd player. Is there somewhere else that I can get the right codec or
whatever I need to finish this project? I'm sure it's not as hard as I'm
making it, but I just don't know what to do. Any help or suggestions would
be appreciated.
Thanks

Get some Codecs. You can't run a computer today without codecs.
Get the K-Lite Codec Pack or the Mega Codec Pack and install it.
Codecs get placed in the computer to be on call when they're needed. I
haven't figured out where they go. But when you want to do something
video-related you don't get that damn codec message.

I've got a slow 1.2 GHz computer running WinXP in case you're
wondering. Having a lot of codecs hasn't bogged my computer down.
Usually Windows gets bogged down for any reason.

BTW I really don't understand codecs either!

Here's the site: http://www.codecguide.com

If I download the mpeg 2 codec do I just install it or do I need to install
it in the Nero Vision Express folder or the Nero Burning Rom folder or some
other folder? I'm sorry if these are dumb questions, but this is all new to
me. Thanks for taking time and trying to help me.

Well, you can download some freeware/open source MPEG-2 codecs from
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=6#6 . There are several freeware
codecs on this page such as:

Dscaler MPEG Filters
ffdshow
GPL MPEG-1/2 Decoder
Stinkys MPEG2 Codec

I would suggest downloading Dscaler MPEG Filters & ffdshow.

And don't mind the guy that mentioned that dvd slideshow builder, he
always advertises this program which isn't freeware, you have to
purchase this prog.

But I can tell you that there are freeware slideshow progs which are:

DVDslideshowGUI located at http://www.videohelp.com/~tin2tin/ is a
freeware program for creating your own slideshows which your burn to
DVD.

Varsha is an open source DVD authoring tool for Linux which also allows
you to burn slideshows to DVD. It is located at
http://varsha.sourceforge.net/ .

DVD Planner located at http://www.dvdplanner.com/ is a new DVD
authoring tool which also allows you to burn slideshows to DVD. This
prog is located at http://www.dvdplanner.com/ & there are 2 versions, a
freeware version & a commerical version.

Slideshow Movie Maker is a free program that can create an AVI-file
from a series of .bmp or .jpg images. Images can have
professional-looking fade-in and fade-out effects, plus attractive text
overlays. The program's clean-looking interface is logically laid out;
you should become productive within just a few minutes of running it.
Keep in mind that .avi files can become quite large and take a long
time to render. However, Slide Show Maker lets you choose to save
output using any one of your system's installed .avi codecs, so the
file size and generation time will vary depending upon which one you
choose. Now, the video is output as an AVI but you can use an encoder
to encode it to MPEG-2 & burn it to DVD. You can get this prog at

Once you install the codecs the programs (NERO) know where to find and
use them. It's not your job after installation - it's the computer's
job to find them. Like I said in my first message I haven't figured
out where they go.

Just do it. See that it works. Report back.

I installed the codec pack and Nero is happy now. I burned my photo dvd and
my wife is happy now! Thanks for your time and patience with me. This is new
to me and I'm sure that I'll get more comfortable with these projects the
more I do them. Thanks again.
