convert an xls file into microsoft works

I HAVE RECEIVED A SPREADSHEET IN XLS FORMAT AND I HAVE M'SOFT WORKS SO THE
FILE WILL NOT OPEN AS MY PC CANNOT FIND AN APPROPRIATE PROGRAM TO OPEN IT IN.
CAN ANYONE HELP
