Control Panel

When I open up Control Panel, it now opens up with left hand pane in folder
view. I can close this view down and it reverts to how it used to open up.
How can I get it back to this "default" view rather than folder view

The default folder action was set to explore, instead of open. To change,
open control panel, click on Tools, Folder Options, and then the File Types
tab. Find (NONE) Folder in the list and highlight it. Click the Advanced
button. Under actions the explore could be bold. Change it to open, by
clicking on open, then clicking the Set Default button. Open should now be
bold. Click Ok. Close control panel and it should open the way you like it.

Apologies for delay in replying...........

Many thanks for your response which I duly tried. However I have to report
that it did not work (?)

Under "Actions" nothing was in bold so took your advice and selected "open".
This turned bold so I set to default. Closing and opening the Control panel
still opened up in explorer/tree mode.

I tried setting to "explore" so that this turned bold and set to default.
Closing and opening the Control Panel opened in explore/tree mode.

Setting back to "open" didn't work, nor did restarting PC with "open" set.
Any further suggestions ??
