Control Panel Home

Hello everyone,

I clicked the Classic view in the Control Panel to see what it would look like... Now I want it to go back to the default MS Vista Style, however I can not change it back because the area to click: Control Panel Home is gone!!



Does anyone know how I can get this back?

Control Panel Home remains as a choice from Classic View on my installation and does restore the default view. However, I am using build 5456, so if there was a bug in 5384 it was fixed in later builds. Since it operates correctly here I can't imagine what is going wrong on your end. It may be a one-time artifact. I suggest you do a system restore back to before you changed to Classic View.

That happened to my build 5384, too. I am not going to do a system restore, though.

Here's how I worked around it -- and it has stayed fixed:

When I click on Start | Control Panel, the (possibly) "Vista version" of
Control Panel appears *very* briefly before the view changes to Classic
View. When I clicked on the very first icon that appeared in this view (be
ready and be fast), the dialog reverted back to "Vista version"' view, with
the left-pane "Control Panel Home" and "Switch to Classic View" in view.

I hope it works for you. Please let us know, because I would REALLY like to
give back a tip for the many, many helpful pointers I've read on this
newsgroup.
