Control Panel File error

I am using an IBM ThinkPad running Windows XP Professional
sp1. Every time I open the Control Panel I get this
message:
An error occurred while Windows was working with the
Control Panel file c:\winnt\system32\smsrc.cpl.

What should I do to fix it?

Hi Laura,
it is related to remote control services try rename it to smsrc.cpl.old
and see if it stops.

Other than the above either do Start/Search for: *.*cpl

Or: Go to Start/Run/Regedit and delete it from here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
ControlPanel\NameSpace
