Control Panel, Explorer hangs

When trying to view properties of my CD and DVD Rom's from the Control Panel
it hangs along with explorer.exe. This just started recently. Any help
appreciated. I would like to view and change settings for autorun and enable
recording, etc. but can't get to that point.

Try a system Restore. You can go back up to 90 days.
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
