Repair explorer.exe possible?

Z

zero

Can't open control panel or any folder but programs work ok.
Explorer.exe has generated errors an will be closed by windows message.
Is not virus or spyware.
My dvd player is not reading properly so can't use the windows disk (or any
other
until I change my dvd or cd unit)

Is it possible to copy the content to an external hd and try to repair
windows from there?

Or is there any procedure to test and repair explorer?

you can always do backup to external hard drive before windows repair.

One means is the builtin backup ( enter ntbackup into a dos Prompt)
and do an automated System recovery. specify the location of output to be
your ext. HD. You will need a formated Floppy though.

so if your repair goes badly you can always use the windows CD to do ASR
and try again
