It depends. What happens right now when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del?

Try using Ctrl+Shift+Esc and see if that will work.

What does happen when you press Ctrl+Alt+Delete?

Good luck

Although this are very basic responses, they are a start. I have tried
ctl-alt esc and it does not work. We can rule that out.

When I type in taskmgr and "run", I get an error message that "Another
program is currently using this file."

I have tried using system restore and I get a message that says "it can't
restore my computer to the current restore point".

When I push the ctl-alt-del keys, nothing happens.

My next step is to run the xp repair from my xp installation disk.

*** Ron wrote "Ctrl+Shift+Esc", not "Ctrl+Alt+Esc".
When I type in taskmgr and "run", I get an error message that "Another

*** Besi suggested that you should click Start / Run, then
*** type taskmgr
*** It is unclear what exactly you did to get this message.
I have tried using system restore and I get a message that says "it can't
restore my computer to the current restore point".

When I push the ctl-alt-del keys, nothing happens.

*** Try a different keyboard.

Is yours a typo? It's Ctrl-Shift-Esc (which is what Ron wrote).
