Hello,

Does anyone know how I can find this folder - Content IE.5?
It doesn't seem to want to show up.
My Norton tells me I have some adware in there but because I can't find the
folder I can't get rid of them.

TIA

In Explorer, go to View, Folder Options. Set it to show hidden and system
folders. Choose OK, after selecting other options you might like (like
showing extensions).

Every user account will have a content.ie5 folder. There may be others as
well. Search for it with Windows search, or a *much* faster alternative,
Agent Ransack - available here:

Once you find the folders, be sure all IE windows are closed and simply
delete the folders. IE will recreate them as necessary.

I had done this already but I still can not find the folder.
Any suggestions?

By going to Start | run and typing in the full path in quotes, example:

You can if you clear the TIF by using the correct method, example:
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab | click delete files and put
a check in offline content.

You do not have to see Content.IE5 to delete the contents.

To delete *all* Temporary Internet Files...

1) Start | Run | Type: inetcpl.cpl | OK
Or right click the Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop.
Or: Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options.
Best to do this with all instances of Internet Explorer closed. Especially
if there are a large number of files.
2) On the General Tab, in the middle of the screen, click on Delete Files
3) Check the box Delete all offline content {This cleans >> C:\Documents
and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files AND
C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5 and \Content.MSO
4) Click on OK and wait for the hourglass icon to stop after it deletes the
temporary internet files
5) You can now click on Delete Cookies and click OK to delete cookies that
websites have placed on your hard drive.

Some Temporary Internet Files are hidden.

To view:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5 AND \Content.MSO

Start | Run | Type: cleanmgr | OK | Highlight Temporary Internet Files |
View Files button

Or...

Start | Run | Type: %TEMP% | OK |

You will probably have to click the Folders button on the Tool Bar.
Click: [+] Temporary Internet Files
Click: [+] Content.IE5
Click: Random named folders
View
You can also view Content.MSO

Removes your Internet history in Internet Explorer. Clears the address list
drop-down, cached files, history and cookies. In Windows it clears the TEMP
folder and Recycle Bin, the run history, recent documents, and find files
history. It also deletes locked files ("index.dat" and files that are in
use by applications).
