Contacts, Personal Folders displayed twice

Jeff

I have a user who is running Outlook 2003 with all the patches, and who
has recently migrated from Outlook 2000, meaning her PST file was just
copied to her new system, which had Outlook 2003.

When she creates a new mail message and clicks the address book icon
she gets an error dialog that says:

"The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder
associated with this address list could not be opened; it mayh have
been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For infomration
on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see
Microsoft Office Outlook Help."

If you click OK, you get the "Select Names" dialog, and in the "Show
Names from the:" drop-down list, under Outlook Address Book, the
Contacts folder is listed twice. If you select the second one down you
can access her contacts; they're all there.

Also, I noticed that in the folder pane, under "All Mail Folders",
"Personal Folders" is listed twice. Both entries point to the same
outlook.pst file. I was unable to close either of them.

How can I get this untangled ?

Thanks,

-Jeff

You/they corrupted the Profile with the method used to migrate
With OL closed, use the Mail Applet in Control Panel to create a new
profile, add the pst's and accounts.
BTW If the OL2k pst is used as the default, there will still be the size
limitation.
