how do I get my contacts in my incoming mail display as names rather than
email addresses. The contacts are in my address book with their full names
and some show as their full names and others just show the email address.

Regardless of how you entered your contacts into your address book, Windows
Mail will show senders' e-mail addresses.
Windows Live Mail will only show names.
Link to install Windows Live Mail ( WLM ) :

Note : You can use both, WLM and WM, side by side, although you'll have to
name one as default program.

thanks for the answer, but maybe I'm not getting it....windows mail is all I
use and sometimes the incoming contacts names are their true names and other
times it's their email addresses. How is windows live mail involved with
that?

Any incoming mail in Windows Mail will show both the name and the email
address, but what the sender chooses to specify for the name depends on the
sender, not what you have in your address book.

You don't have control over what the sender does.
If the sender chooses to omit their name, all you will see is their email address.
