Contacts Dialer

My Contacts Dialer works for local calls but leaves out the last two digets
of the area code for long distance calls. No matter in what form the phone
number is written, the number the dialer tries to call is short the two
digets.

Example: 1 8 5131234

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I had the same problem when the phone co. required 1+area code for local
calls.I had to edit the Area Code Rules in the Phone and Modem Options. Now no
problems.

Thanks for the reply. I found out I had to use the Canonical Dialing format:

+Country code (area code) phone number

Example:

+1 (305) 954-3345

I later found out that while local calls went through, long distance didn't.I
did have to change the format. For some reason I had to add an additional 1
(+1 1 555 555-5555) for it to work. Thanks for pointing me in the right
direction.

Ditto. But adding an additional 1 to the number isn't working for me. Though
it now shows the full number being dialed when the dialing box opens (1 1 555
555 5555) no longer omitting the second two digits of the area code, now it
is dialing twelve digits, which in turn generates a fast busy signal due to
incorrect dialing procedure (12 numbers).

Any and all help gratefully accepted!

Still no luck with this #&*! phone dialer. Has anyone come up with a solution
for its dropping the second two digits of the area code when dialing a long
distance number (1 9 5555555)? I've tried all the solutions listed here
(tone/pulse, area code rules, additional 1 before the number, etc)with no
effect.

Help!

Did you put the plus(+) sign before the 1 ?( +1(space)1(space)Area
code(space)555-5555)

Yes, but I didn't put a space in between the '+1' and the next one. Thanks
for the tip.
Also, the phone dialer rules will not accept a '+' so I guess we have to
insert the '+1' manually for EVERY long distance number. Sweet, MS.

Thanks a lot, spjr2.
