Contacts/Address Book can't be opened

Steve

Hi.

When creating a New Mail message, if I hit the icon alongside the "To..."
field, the following message is displayed and I don't get the Addressbook
list window:

The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with
this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or
you do not have permissions. ....

Is this normal, and if not, how can I get it to display my contacts list ?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Had it been working properly?

In any case, you have to right-click on your Contact folder,
then click on the Outlook Address Book tab, then be sure
that "Show this Folder as an Outlook Address Book is
checked.

This was an out of the box install plus import of mail/address book from
Outlook Express, so I wasn't aware of any corruption esp. since the
"Contacts" item under my Personal Folders list seemed okay.

Anyway, I've taken the article you've posted and have removed/reinstated my
Address book, so now all is well, thanks.

You left out what you did to corrupt your Outlook Address Book settings.
Reset them.

Importing Outlook data will corrupt those settings.
Next time open or reuse your data, don't import it.
