Contact not appearing in Address book

john

I am using outlook 2003 and have recently upgraded to a new computer running
Vista. I used the Microsoft provided file transfer from the old computer to
new.

My contacts folder appear to function correctly by them selves but when
creating a new message, the pop up box is blank when clicking the ‘to
button. If I start to type a new address, a list of address does appear.

The ‘show this folder as an email address†is grayed out in contacts folder
proprieties and both the ‘outlook address book’ and personal address book’
are appearing in the ‘email account section’, but no actual contact folders
are shown when I click the ‘change’ button.

Any help would be appreciated.

Posted here more often than I can count. You must never use Windows Easy
Transfer with Outlook. It does not work. Your Outlook profile is now
corrupt. You must create a new profile from scratch and use a supported
method for transferring your data. Those methods have also been posted here
many times. Normally one simply opens their previous Outlook data file in
Outlook and sets it to be the new default for that profile.

Also, there is absolutely no reason you should have the"personal address
book" service in this profile. Why do you? Outlook hasn't used this in
nearly a decade.

Thanks, but it kind of sucks that Miscrosoft has created an 'easy transfer'
that does not work with outlook! Worse yet it corrupts the data.

Could you direct me to instruction on how to create a new profile and
transfer my data? I assume I will not lose any data, right?

Should I delete the 'personal address book" service? How can I tell if I am
even using it? I have been using Outlook forever and use the standard
prompts when up-grading.

Just don't add the PAB to this profile. Outlook doesn't use it and a new
profile will not contain one.
