Constant "Recovered File" Window When Starting Excel

This started to happen after a power outage caused my machine (and Excel) to
shutdown improperly. Now the Document Recovery window is displayed each time
I start Excel and selecting any of the available options opens a default,
empty worksheet rather than displaying the file listed under "Available
Files".

I have disabled document recovery but this doesn't resolve the issue. I
have also searched the registry for any reference to the file referenced
under "Available Files" but cannot find any instance.

I have to assume something got corrupted when the improper shutdown occurred
and I need to know how to clear whatever is referencing this file. All other
Excel functionality is intact.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Go to the folder location under Tool>Options...>Save and delete any files in
there. (Go via windows explorer, not Excel as the files will likely have no
..xls extension, so you won't see them

Nick,

There were no files in this directory, only a subdirectory named "XLSSTART".
Explorer is configured to view all file types so I would have seen any
hidden files if they existed.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!
