Connection Problems With SP2

Posting here, as I couldn't find a more relevant forum.

Running XP Home, DSL. Immediately after installing SP2, I began to have
problems with automatic connection. On about 60 percent of startups, the
only way I can connect is to right-click on the computer icon, then Repair.
I can find no pattern to these aborted startups, and automatic connection
worked every time before SP2. At least the Repair method always works. How
can I get the automatic connection to work every time? Thank you.

The first thing to try is updating the drivers for your network adapter
card (nic). Get them from the card mftr.'s website or from your
computer mftr.'s website if you have an OEM machine (HP, Dell, etc.).
