Connection Problem

I am feeling frustrate. My laptop recognizes both a
wireless connection (broadband router sending signal from
my cable modem), and a direct Ethernet connection to the
cable modem. In both cases, the connection is avaiable
and working well. However, my browser doesn't seem to
realize that there is a working Internet connection, and
consistently gives me "page cannot be displayed" messages.
I have checked the level of security (set to medium) and
everything else I can think of! The frustrating thing is
that the browser worked just fine last week ... somewhere,
I have changed some connection setting without noticing,
and have messed everything up. Can anyone help?

Try this fix.

"Page Cannot be Displayed" or "Web Page Unavailable Offline" When You Browse
to Http://Localhost
When you try to browse to http://localhost, Microsoft Internet Explorer may
prompt you to "Work Offline" or "Try Again." If you click Work Offline, you
may receive an "Web page unavailable offline" message, and if you click Try
Again, you may receive a "Page cannot be displayed" message.
