Cannot Connect via Wireless

When I connect my work laptop to my router via ethernet cable, I connect to
internet with no problem.

When not connected by cable, the laptop connects to the wireless signal
easily and with food quality and strength but when I try to connect to
internet with explorer, I cannot connect. Can someone head me in the right
direction?

Thanks,
Mike

So when you are using the Ethernet cable you can use IE I presume, is that
right?.
So the problem not the browser, the prblem is the wireless dropping the
connection for some reason.
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Internet Connections >> Network
connections.
On there right click your Wireless Connection and select properties.
On the properties select Let windows configure the Wireless and also be sure
to Turn the Windows Wireless zero Configuration to Auto.
To do that Open a run command and type in:
services.msc click [OK] and there turn the Zero configuration to Auto,
Reboot your computer and see if you can access the IE.
HTH.
Let us know.

Nass,

Yes, when connected by ethernet cable, no difficulty using ie.

I did set windows configuration to auto (it was on manual)

Rebooted.

The network connection screen looks like this (link):

Where or how do I tell Windows to configure for me?

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi Mike,
On the First Picture under General Tab click on Configure u8nder your
Wireless card and see the settings there.
Also on the First Picture scroll to the TCP/IP and click the Properties
button and see if the computer getting Automatic IP address with DNS.

On the Second Picture you looks like selecting the Ad-Hoc Mode try to select
Mixed Mode Protection and you get the Authentication Option enter the
Encryption Key in.

P.S, did you installed the software for the Wireless card or you just
plugged the card and left windows to detect it for you?.
Why I'm asking because if you have the wireless manager for the wireless
installed and you have or you will have WZC they can conflict and you loose
or drop connection.
HTH.

Thank you again for your help. I have tried these suggestions with no
success. I am about to leave on a business trip so perhaps I will be able to
try again when I return.

Strangely, my wife's computer in an adjacent room connects just fine. Also,
I am able to connect myself when I disable the (WEP) security but I don't
like to leave it that way. I am also able to connect to my neighbor's
(unsecured) signal in testing.

Thanks again and perhaps I will try again Wednesday.
