Connecting to ISP with Outlook 2007

I can connect to my ISP with IE but when attempting to connect via Outlook
2007 get an error 0x9cdc008 followed by "Cannot find email server. Verify the
server information in your account properties". I am using a dial-up
facility. Help please.

Thanks for your reply which is helpful. But my immediate problem is with
another machine which is using Virgin.net and dial-up.

I made an assumption, based on your mail addy.
PS I cannot get virgin.net dial up to work, at all, since moving from an
ISDN service. Fortunately I only used it as a backup, so havent got round to
working out why.

Thanks again. Your previous reply about talktalk was helpful (or will be at
some future point) but at present I am trying to help an elderly friend who
only uses PAYG dial-up. I can get to connect to virgin but in a very
roundabout way and not via Outlook. I havent attempted to use Outlook on my
own machine with talktalk.
