Connecting to internet at startup

I have a dsl connection which requires a user id and password. Both are
stored in the computer, so I only have to open the connection and click
"connect".

How can I get this done automatically at startup?

Purchase a router and it will always stay connected to your modems internet
connection.

Is there no software solution? I thought it should be a simple thing to do.

Not that I know of. The utility that loads with your modem is the only
software that I know of. You might try googling for it, I tried but saw
nothing that looked like what you want.

Contact you ISP, some of them do offer software solutions.
However as stated above a Cable/DSL Router ($10-$20) is a much better
solution.
