connecting outllook 2003 on XP home in workgroup to Exchange

Is there any reason why Outlook 2003 cannot be installed on XP Home in a
Workgroup to connect to an Exchange Server - I can't get this to work - DNS
entries seem OK but Outllook is saying it can't find Exchange Server and
(although Server says workstation is connected) Exchange is not recognising
workstation login attempts

I am having a similar problem with new install of outlook 2003 when behind a
nating router. I know its 2003 because we have outlook xp & 2000 users that
are working fine behind the same router, I have come accross this in other
newsgroups but no answer yet
