Hi everyone,
I am a beginner in SQL server, I have a server which I installed on it
Windows Advance server 2000, and Microsoft SQL server 2000 enterprice.
I want to access the sql server from access data project copy that works
fine on the server but when I try to make the connection on the clients
which run Windows XP pro, and Office XP, but it says that: sql server is not
existant or access denied!
Do I want to install the client tools on the clients?

Please help!!!

Yes, get the client tools on the workstation, also make sure you have the
latest MDAC, http://www.microsoft.com/data, A trick I use in this situation
is to create a UDL file, create a text file and change the extension to udl,
once the rename has taken place the icon will change, double-click on the
file and try to setup a connection, this way you are making sure that the
workstation has connectivity to the server, there is a 'Test Connection'
button in there for testing, does this work on other computers?, can you
ping the server by IP address and name?, also SP4 for SQL is out, but that
won't solve this specific problem, but whilst we are at it, what SP is the
SQL on?

Give them a go.....
