Confusing situation

I have two computers running W2k. Both have the latest updates (SP4)
plus the latest Media Player update.

I have an avi file... let's call it "sample.avi"
One will play it. The other will not.

I get a message on the second one that says "error downloading" then
it plays the sound but not the video.

Why and how can I fix this?

Hi,
Maybe you should try putting the video codecs from the
machine which plays the file onto the non-playing machine.
The "error downloading" is when media player tries to
connect and download the codec for the particular video
and cannot. You may want to consider downloading one of
the many codec packs which make it quite simple to install
a wide variety for most file formats. Thanks
