computer xp freeze when connected to internet

For some time now i experience this strange behavior.When connected to the
internet the computer freeze for few minutes (5-10).The pointer is moving
but nothing reacts to the click. After the time of freezing all the clicked
choices are opening.I tried all the known (to me) diagnoses and repairs such
as scandisk,defrag,ad-ware,registry mechanic,etc without any change. The
computer is P4 2.6 with 256ram and xp pro and beside that works just fine.
Any ideas how to correct this problem?

Have you checked the Event Viewer?
Open Control Panel>Administrative tools>Event Viewer
Another question-how are you getting connected to the internet?

I am experiencing computer freezes too. Ctrl, Alt, Del brings up the Task
Manager, but when I try to end the task, I receive the Report the Problem to
Microsoft window. I have to manually reboot the computer. I checked the
Event Viewer and there are several errors listed. The sources on the
Application are: Ci & Application Hang). I also have errors listed on the
System: Dcom, Service Control Manager. How do I correct these problems?
Your help is appreciated.
