Computer won't sleep

T

Turkk

Having solved my problem of the computer waking up immediately after going to
sleep, I now have one that simply won't go to sleep by itself. If I set the
power options to go to sleep after 2 hours & go away, when I come back 6
hours later it's still running. I am networked to one other PC, but I've
doublechecked all the network things and made sure there's nothing checked
that prevents sleep (or at least I think I have removed all these). Thought
Service Pack 1 might fix the problem, but it didn't. Any suggestions very
welcome.

Many thanks

Selectively disable software that is running in the background until it is
able to go to sleep on its own. Wireless mouse/keyboard software is
well-known to cause this issue and updating it may be needed to resolve it.

Not sure what your 'all' includes so this may be redundant.

Common problem preventing automatic sleep is 'sharing' of files, especially
media files.

In your media player check for options to share (in WLM, tools options
library )
In network and sharing center check on 'media sharing'
In power options, advanced setting, check settings in 'multimedia settings'
