Computer won't allow updates to IE or virus Software

[Help!]

Help! Please...our office computer is on dsl and I think
something has snuck in! It won't allow us to update any
programs including Macafee virus, spykiller or internet
explorer.

It has taken over out home page and it goes directly to
about:blank then a pop up comes up making it impossible
to navigate on the IE6 toolbar until you do a ctrl alt
del and close the running program.

It is making us crazy! We have been uninstalling and then
reinstalling virus sw and it always finds several and
says it deletes them but they come right back and it
still won't update the SF...at wits end
