Okay my computer was running fine last night and this morning when I
turned
it on it just sat there with the black mircrosoft sceen and would not
open up
the blue screen with users on it. It would also not shut down either.
I did
manual turn it off and when the screen came up I opened it in safe
mode.
Which it will run on, but I did try and restart it and it froze again
on the
black screen.
Anyone have any advice or know whats causing this? And anything I can
do to
fix the problem? We just go a new hard drive about a year ago, so I
hope
thats not it...
Thanks for any help out there!!!!

Anything in the Event Log (Errors?)

Start button --> RUN --> Type In:

eventvwr

--> Click OK.

Look through Application and System. Report back any errors/warning from
the last time you booted into safe mode after trying to boot normally right
before that... (verbatim please.)

Also - what changed? Did you update? Install new software? Install a new
hardware driver?

Okay In the applications this is what I found:
2 errors this morning in the eventsystem both about an hour apart,
catagory (50) event 4609
The com+ system detected a bad return code during its internal
processing HRESULT 8007043C FROM LINE 44 OF D:\QXP_SLP\COM\COMLX
\SRDEVENTS\TIER1\EVENTSYSTEMOBJ.CPP

Also in the system there are tons of errors most saying: DCOM the dns
clietnt service depends on the TCP/IP protocol driver service which
failed to start becuase a device attached to the system in not
functioning

Does this help????

This site may help in removing what's left of ACT! lingering in the system.
http://acthelp.blogspot.com/2007/09/help-i-cant-get-act-to-uninstall.html

The author mentions an uninstall utility for ACT! on ?? her ?? website. You'll
find it at the bottom of the page ?? she ??provided a link for.
