Computer very slow when printing

I have a problem with 2 Dell laptops in that they are very slow to respond
when printing.

The first laptop has windows XP Home and prints to an Epson via the parrell
port.

The second, has windows XP Pro and prints to a different Epson via USB.

Any suggestions woudl be greatly appreciated!

I notice that almost ALL computers are slow while a large print job is being
created.
Even my 3Ghz with 1.5GB RAM.
 
This wouldnt make sense as i only get the problem when i am printing to an
Epson. If i print to a HP then i dont get the problem!!
