Computer turns itself back on

OK, here is my problem in a nutshell. I shutdown my computer when I'm done
working, but it doesn't stay shut down. Anywhere from 30 seconds to 2
minutes
later, it will turn itself on again automatically. I'm beginning to wonder
if
I have some type of virus that my Mcafee Virus Scan Professional Edition
isn't detecting. I run Windows XP Home edition. I also have Lavasoft
Ad-Aware
SE Professional with Ad-Watch installed, along with Registry Mechanic. One
reason I think virus is that once in awhile I'll get a notice in my email
account that an email I've sent could not be delivered for whatever reason
(usually because the address it was sent to does not exist). The only
problem
with that is I haven't sent any emails corresponding to that notice. Any
ideas on this one would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I have SP2 installed.

Look in your BIOS, there is an option to Wake the system up on LAN or
something similar. If this option is enabled, your computer will start up by
itself when Router or Modem sends packets to see if you are still part of a
network. Look in the your Computer Manuctfacturer manual to see how to enter
the BIOS.

If the computer is completely off, it is a BIOS issue and not a virus.

Enter the BIOS.
Look for something like "Wake on LAN" or "Wake on Ring", probably under
Power tab.
Disable them.
Check your motherboard/computer and/or contact the manufacturer for details.

Be wary of those undeliverable email notices. Many of them are fake and
may contain malicious software.
