itself back on.... I need help and I am scared / unfamiliar using safe mode,
uneasy about registry work... Can you PLEASE help and be patient too?

You need to provide more specific information about the problem so that we
can help. When you say it shuts off and then turns back on, do you mean it
physically powers down and then some time later powers up? Or do you mean
the PC reboots? What exactly is going on when the PC reboots/shuts off? Do
you ever get to a desktop where you could start troubleshooting. Starting
in safe mode is nothing to be scared of--when the PC is starting to boot,
tap the F8 key and when the menu appears, select safe mode. If you are
unable to get to the desktop in normal mode, perhaps you can there in safe
mode. Did the problem start **immediately** after the updates installed or
was it some time later? Do you regularly scan your PC with up to date
antivirus program and a malware program such as: Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware
which is a very good free program, that can be downloaded from here:

not trying to steal this thread...

Then you should not have posted to it--now there are two problems trying to
be worked in one thread which can become very confusing. I'd recommend that
you start your own thread to keep the confusion factor at a minimum.
