HELP: Windows Firewall turns itself off at Internet connection

I had some problems with my computer a while ago, and ever since, the windows
firewall has turned itself off whenever I connect to the Internet....I have
looked at all the settings in the security centre, and the windows firewall
settings, but I can't see any reason that would be happening

It could be some type of malware disabling the firewall, though I doubt
it's limited to that. Here are a few things I would try:

1. Try one of these free online virus scans.

This one has a choice of a Quick or a Complete check

Symantec

then click the Security check link.

2. Run Hijack This, or other diagnostic software.

3. Use System Restore to revert to a date before the problems first
occurred.

4. Do a Windows Repair.
