Windows Firewall keeps switching to off

I'm not sure if it's a virus or what, but my windows firewall keeps on
turning itself off somehow. Ever since I noticed it happening, I check it
every day and it's always turned to the off option, even when I have put it
in the on option the day before.

Are you using zonealarm? That turns it off.

I do hope it is not the case with your computer, but among much other
damage the latest version of the Sober worm does is to disable Windows
Security Center.

I was having the same problem and have searched everywhere for an answer but
yesterday I found out the cause from a girl who worked at a book store.

I am running WindowXP Home and had added several antivirus programs for fear
of the ______ things. By having so many at the same time sends information
in every direction and conflicts with each and causes problems on different
programs. Some of the antivirus ware has it's own firewall and will conflict
with each other. I had Norton antivirus, Ad-Aware, SpyBot search and destroy
and a couple others. So I went searching for a free Antivirus program and
found AVG antivirus ware from Grist and reading what it had to say was the
same thing the gal at the book store was saying. BEFORE YOU DOWN LOAD THIS
PROGRAM RID YOUR COMPUTER OF ALL OTHER ANTIVIRUS WARE CAUSE THEY WILL
CONFLICT EACH OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

I got rid off all the othes and downloaded AVG and now the firewall is
always ON.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you everyone for the answers. I think it might be someoneelsedidit's
post, b/c I have all those exact programs also. I'll contact Norton and see
what they think I should do or what firewall I should be using.
