Sounds like the bios is set to start your computer at midnight. Just turn
it off in the bios.

How can it dial a connection there if the operating system isn't
running, i.e., the computer is turned off? If the computer is off it
can only be automatically powered by features in the BIOS.

wake on LAN setting is a BIOS setting.
On most computers you access the BIOS by pressing delete mutliple times
during boot....if it is not delete the proper button to push is usually
listed at the bottom of the boot screen.
Once in the BIOS just search thru the pages till you find wake on lan and
disable/turn off. Then save your settings and exit the bios.
Do not change any other setting.

Ty so much for explaining how to get to that setting, well i went there and
it has 2 keys to click f2 and f12 and neither has an opt to click the words
bios or lan local area network im guessing that means. But at the top of the
pages it has bios version then some numbers and a letter but its info not an
opt to click. Ive never changed any settings i dont understand on my computer
so i dont know how they would be changed. But im willing to try anything im
so tired of it going on each night although now i unplug it at bedtime,.Can
u tell me what to specifically look for to find this setting,i need layman
terms ty again

You can`t use the mouse in bios you have to use the arrow keys to navigate,
Enter to select/change setting and Esc to exit settings amongst others.

On the BIOS screen the pages are usually listed at the top.........using
your keyboard keys you navigate sideways thru the pages and up/down to the
contents of each page. When you find the WakeOnLan
setting.......WOL..........you navigate to that line and press enter,,then
the choices will show..hilite your choice and press enter...........after
that F10 is usually "safe&exit" ............and the machine will reboot
automatically.
Its hard to be specific since each machines BIOS is just different enough.
If you still have problems tell us the name and model of the mobo or if its
a prebuild like a DELL the model #
