Computer Starts but DeSktop will Not

Have home Pc 800 mhtz, running Windows-Millinium. Starts up like normal
background appers make the usual windows noise-tune, but icons or
anything else will show up, just stops. Even in safe mode it just
comes up with background with safe mode written in all corners. ????????

The OS is windows ME? If so why are you posting to an XP newsgroup? Post
to one of the Win ME newsgroups such as:
