That question is a little ambiguous. Sure you can speed up your computer.
There are a multitude of things you can do, Not knowing anything about your
system kinda limits the suggestions

Doug's reply comes from simply not knowing what is
available. There is one utility that I have tested that
actually honestly works to speed up XP(Both system and
network) It actually tweaks a couple of dozen registry
entries that can be gotten at manually. This tool is the
real deal and although it's free it's worth hundreds of
dollars in the time it saves alone. The tool is SpeedXP.
Do a search from your location and see where your closest
download site is. Here's one for you.

The one tweak that it does I don't recommend is the "clear
pagefile on shutdown" This overwrites your existing
pagefile with zeros and can add several minutes to your
shut down time. It's ok if you are a security freak and
want to be sure noone finds out what was in your pagefile.
As for the rest I would, and did, check every box. The I\O
pagelock limit depends on your RAM but for 256 set it to
20000 for 512 set it to 40000. These are safe settings. I
have 512MB of RAM and set I\O Pagelock limit to 132000.
The second level data cache should be set to equal your
RAM. Have fun.

Actually, Doug's reply was spot on. Because the original poster's
question was so vague and supplied no information whatsoever, any
answer regarding tweaks or programs could be misleading or even harmful
