computer shutdown

alarm sound goes off on the back of the computer then shuts me down. After
the computer shuts down the alarm still goes off for about a minute. please

Is your computer plugged into a UPS backup battery? A UPS is a
device designed to provide power to a computer and some of its
peripheral devices in case of a power failure. An alarm sounds
when a power failure is detected. Depending on how the UPS is
configured, it will initiate a shutdown sequence on your
computer.

Look behind your computer for a large box into which a number
of power cords are connected. It may even have the letters UPS
stamped on it. A UPS is much larger than a "surge protector"
type power strip.
