1st most newer pcs need ram memory installed in pairs....Also,mixing dual-
sided ram with single also causes problems..You added 1,move that to another
slot. You can eventually pinpoint the exact location by running the memory
tester,
download to a formatted MS-DOS floppy, then boot to floppy.Get this at
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp I believe it runs off a cd also.

My Dell Dimension 8400 shuts down intermittantly. Power light on CPU flashes
amber. Ran Dell diagmostics and hardware passes tests OK. Four green lights
on diagnostic lights. Tried "Sytem Restore" but it goes thru the whole
procedure then says Restore Failed. Very perplexing. Sometimes works OK for
days then will turn off five times in a row. Any ideas?

I ran the memory diagnostic no errors were found. I will try adding another
512mb
and see what happens will let you know may take a little while to get back
to you on this . I think that may be the problem. hopefully. How do you tell
if the ram is dual-sided? Thanks!!

Have you installed any new hardware other than the RAM you have mentioned?
Or updated any device drivers lately? This error code could happen from a
bad or damage device driver.

Try unplugging all devices attached your computer expect keyboard, mouse and
monitor. Remove any internal cards such as sound card, network card and
modem.
